Stupid Republicans.

What the hell is wrong with you Republicans?

Why do you people refuse to listen. For months now we have been telling you how much smarter we are than you, do you listen no!
Have you not seen the Liberal blogs and Democrat articles, they are filled with multi syllable words that clearly demonstrate how much smarter we are than you and yet you keep on voting Conservative Republicans.

We have been telling you for at least 2 decades that we need more tax dollars for schools. Did you listen to us? No while we were pouring billions into schools, watching the drop out rates increase, test scores decrease and teacher compensation skyrocket what did you people do? You ran around complaining about kids who were dropping out and winding up in prison or pregnant. You didnt even bother to thank us for creating generations of people who are to stupid to even vote.

Did you listen when Nancy Pelosi told you for every dollar we put into unemployment two goes into the economy? No you went right on trying to get people jobs. If you were paying attention you would have worked to lay off the entire country and we would have a booming economy now.

Did you listen when we told you the best way to curb spending is to spend more? No you actually try to cut spending and save money, what the hell is wrong with you people.

When Warren Buffet told you the rich need to pay more taxes and his secretary pays a higher percentage in taxes than he does what did you do. You went and told him to give his secretary a raise and to feel free to pay more taxes. What kind of illogical insanity is that? If he had just laid her off she would probably be rich by now and paying more taxes.

When we pointed put GE didnt pay any corporate taxes what did you guys do? Ill tell you what you did, nothing. Democrats took the reigns and had the President put him in charge of the economy. Now thats progress.

When we told you it was wrong to have a drop out as Milwaukee County Executive, the rich need to pay more taxes and you Republicans cant play by your own laws what did you do? You ran a candidate who graduated from college, pays his taxes and has had no legal trouble. How are people supposed to learn from that?
We are showing you the error of how bad electing Walker was by electing Chris Abele who dropped out of 3 colleges, is rich, dont pay taxes and avoided his OWI court date for 7 and a half years.
To show you how bad the choice of Walker was we are going to run Milwaukee right into the toilet so you guys can see how bad your choices are.

Now please start listening or we'll sue every last one of you

When The Story Won’t Sell Newspapers or Catch Headlines, Just Suggest Conspiracy

As I read the coverage about the mistake in Waukesha county in the State Journal; it has made me sick to see how they are feed the fuel to conspiracy theorist by suggesting that the county executive somehow did this on purpose. The fact that they keep bringing up that she testified “in secrecy” over improper use of government offices and supplies in re-election campaigns. PEOPLE she was testifying AGAINST her own party!!!! If that doesn’t show she is more interested in doing the right thing than backing her own party than nothing will. Instead of reporting the facts they decided to incite public outrage by making the bold face part of the article read “Testified in secrete hearing”. The social responsibility that a newspaper holds should come with some sort of sense of right or wrong. BUT it does not, so we are stuck with having to read headlines that are misleading, and sometimes a complete lie. Way to go State Journal, you are a beacon in the sea of facts for all idiots to read. Keep reporting mountains when in-fact an ant hill is what you are seeing.

Lets Not Repeat Janesville Mistakes

A very good friend of mine said: “It’s good to learn from your mistakes, BUT, it’s even better to learn from someone else’s mistakes. 130 positions will be eliminated from the Janesville school district. None of what is happening there has anything to do with the pending state budget. It has to do with multiple pre existing problems facing that community:

1. Largest employer (GM) closing its doors.
2. Teachers demanding a pay increase knowing that it would mean possible layoffs.
3. Employment rate among the highest in the state.
And lastly;
4. Continuing to fund programs such as 4K that are not a “need”.

We as a community have a unique opportunity to look at a system that is making the financial decisions based on income from it’s “hay day” and learn from their mistakes. Janesville residence cannot just make money, with foreclosures already high, and more looming, people moving out of the school district meaning: less state and federal aid, and less property taxes to fund public endeavors.

I am hopeful that we can take away a good dose of someone else’s reality before we find ourselves in the same situation. Oh, and I would like to extend a special thanks to the teachers union in Janesville for showing everyone how much “good” you do for those teachers that where just given a pink slip. Way to go

And what is the deal with voter ID laws?

It's like airplane food, am I right? OK not like airline food at all, but what is it? At the end of the day the biggest aspect to voter ID legislation is that an individual who comes to vote must, wait for it...SHOW SOME VALID IDENTIFICATION. Holy shit. What balls on those government fat-cats. Wait, what? That's it. Well that doesn't seem that bad. Why is that bad?

Some would say this disenfranchises certain segments of society who would otherwise vote but don't have an ID. Huh? Who in the fuck doesn't have some ID? Well it is argued (seriously this is argued) that Hispanics (I am serious) are 24% more unlikely to have an ID than whites of registered voters. Do they tell us how many of those Hispanics are citizens? They do not, wonder why? African-Americans are 48% more unlikely than whites to have an ID of registered voters.

This tells me a few things;
1) Why don't these people go get IDs? They have time to register to vote, it takes about the same amount of time and effort to get an official state ID. That is just lazy or stupid or worse, potentially fraudulent.
2) How do these people deal with the many situations that require IDs such as opening a bank account (requires 2 forms and a social security number), getting any form of credit, getting a discount at a movie theatre, buying alcohol, getting in to a bar or an R-rated movie, buying pornography, buying fire-arms...pretty much all the fun, cool stuff in the world! Yeah I said it alcohol, guns and porn are fun but also are God-given American rights...that require IDs! Hmmm just like voting should, no?

Keep it up sheep and be sure to vote early often and let all your state-paid election officials get to shredders quickly and efficiently!

GET OUT AND VOTE!!!!!!

Those of you under the misguided notion, that even in the event of a Prosser loss, his 4-to-3 tie-breaking swing vote in favor of judicial restraint will remain on the court long enough to validate Governor Walker’s Budget Repair Bill, had better think again. The Madison judge, Dane County Circuit Judge Maryann Sumi, who has pulled every judicial activist trick in the book to block Walker’s bill on an absurd technicality, has no doubt intentionally decided to run out the clock in the hopes liberal activist Joanne Kloppenburg succeeds in unseating Prosser. Sumi’s delayed her next ruling for nearly two months. This allows her to hold on to the case until the end of May or the beginning of June. Prosser’s term would end July 31, which make it very possible the State’s highest court won’t rule until long afterwards.
See how that works?
This isn’t an accident or coincidence. It’s by design. Delaying the enactment of a law over a technicality regarding an Open Meetings rule no serious person thinks was violated, is one thing. Throwing a wrench in the gears in order to slow down the process in the hopes a more favorable appeals court judge will win an election, is something else. The will of the people is being overturned by the worst kind of judicial overreach our state has seen in a long time — which brings me to the bigger picture.
This entire battle is about one thing and, believe it or not, it has nothing to do with “collective bargaining“. The unions don’t care about collective bargaining as much as they care about the money and power that comes in the form of union dues. Right now, if you’re a Wisconsin public employee, union membership is mandatory and the dues you pay — that average around $800 a year — are automatically garnished from your paycheck and funneled directly to the union. Walker’s bill puts an end to both of those obnoxious practices.
Though the bill’s dishonest opponents and their media minions have framed the debate around the concept of ”workers’ rights,” one right Walker gives public workers is the right to NOT join the union. Furthermore, instead of the state collecting dues from those who choose to join, the union will now have to collect dues all on their own. This racket  – and that’s exactly what it is — that forces workers into the union, is not only the well spring of union power in Wisconsin, it is also a central source of political power for Democrats, including Obama, in a must-win swing state. Millions of dollars in dues help to pay for the union machine’s crucial get-out-the-vote activities and their massive campaign ad blitzes.
The numbers that terrify Democrats and unions come from states where laws similar to Walker’s have passed that put an end to both compulsory public union membership and the automatic garnishment of dues:
Union officials recognize what can happen if dues payments become voluntary. Robert Chanin, who was general counsel of the National Education Association from 1968 to 2009, said in a U.S. District Court oral argument in 1978 that “it is well-recognized that if you take away the mechanism of payroll deduction, you won’t collect a penny from these people, and it has nothing to do with voluntary or involuntary. I think it has to do with the nature of the beast, and the beasts who are our teachers . . . simply don’t come up with the money regardless of the purpose.”
There is evidence to back up his fears. In 2001, Utah made the collection of payments to union political funds optional, and nearly 95% of public school teachers opted not to pay. In 2005, Indiana GOP Gov. Mitch Daniels limited collective-bargaining rights for public employees, and today only 5% of state employees pay union dues.
A mere 50% drop in union dues would be a terrible blow to Wisconsin unions and the Democrats they support. 95% will all but put their racket out of business. Furthermore, it’s very difficult to see Obama’s path to re-election victory should a powerful union machine be unable to bring Wisconsin over to his win column.
Wisconsin Democrats, with the help of the White House, are playing chess here and have been since they fled the state.
Unless we get out our vote in Wisconsin, this election could very well be checkmate.

Election Day: Please Stay Home

And as far as I am concerned I just as soon have the lot of you sheep stay at home. You people that vote go out and vote and then turn around and bitch about who you voted for in the first place. Take Obama, majority voted him in and his approval rating is low as the floor. Walker, clearly voted in by a high majority and now everyone bitches and calls him "Hitler" for crying out loud. And don't give me the excuse of partisan politics, today is a spring non-partisan election and there will be bitching, oh you betcha there will be.

I contend that if all the people that bitched about election results went out and volunteered there would be no need for publicly funded social programs. Do you think that result would help which ever party is controlling our world? You bet it would sheep.

Nope, just keep on keeping on. Baa-baa bitch, do no help!

Sheep, the lot of you.

Just for fun...

Top 10 stand-up comedians of all-time. Why not?

First of all this list will not be agreed upon by anyone of you three people that read this blog. It is my list and it took a lot of science and algorithms and other shit to come up with. Or I was just having a few and thought watching a few monologues on YouTube would be funny. It was. Enjoy.

Honorable Mention: Louis CK - Kind of a downer, frumpy white guy but pretty funny and real blue.

Honorable Mention (Chick): Whitney Cummings - took this one from a roast.. she is the new Queen of Mean. Brutal.

10. Dave Chappelle - Classic and the worst thing about it is that the high white dudes that like him completely miss the subtle social commentary.

9. Mitch Hedburg - another case of misery loves comedy. Died too young.

8. Anthony Jeselnik - another new kid on the block. Great delivery, totally brutal and has great double punch lines with master timing. Watch out for this kid.

7. Eddie Murphy - He was the man. In this clip he is like 24 years old. This dude is funny and parlayed it into a franchise.

6. Norm Macdonald - Underrated as shit. I saw this guy live and nearly pissed my pants. Of course I was shitfaced, but still. He just takes it to another level.

5. Patton Oswalt - One of the deep thinkers of the group. Deep, funny as all hell and afraid of nothing, including laughing along with the audience (I love that). True comics, comic.

4. Zack Galifianakis - The comic who would be voted as the most likely to be from another planet but not all contrived and shit like Emo Phillips or weird guys like that. And you thought he was funny in 'The Hangover", dude has been around for awhile.

3. Rodney Dangerfield - Are you kidding me...one of the best. No respect, yeah right.

2. Bill Hicks - A masterful genius who died way too young, and it wasn't even from drugs. Weak, he kicked from the cancer, a disease he lightly mocked.

1. George Carlin - The King. Simple. He is the epitome of 'practice makes perfect', because he was. A linguist and master debater, with himself. I consider him one of my heroes.

Fact Check: Obama on Libya

Let's be honest it's about the oil. No it can't be. This is Obama not George W.

What about the people in the Congo, The Ivory Coast, Burma etc.

Democrats To Abandon Elections - Wisconsin Onion

The Democratic Party of Wisconsin announced this week it will no longer be participating in elections or running candidates for elected office and will instead seek to implement policy through favorable court rulings.

In a related press release it was announced Havbin Rypen and Huoff will now be the legal arm of the Democratic party.

Democratic spokes-person Ima Lyar reading a prepared statement said. "We can no longer rely on voters to elect candidates we want them to. Instead we will be focusing our efforts on putting judges in place who will enact Democratic policy through the courts and backing only judicial candidates going forward."

Further explaining the move Lyar said, "look this is a win win for all, we can allow the electorate to vote on the candidate of their choosing while completely ignoring election results and getting the policy we want no matter what the people think is best for them"

When questioned whether or not this was going to be embraced by lifelong Democrats and moderates or Independants who back the party Lyar said. "Corporations, Koch Brothers, Fascist, Working Families, The Children , Job Creation and Education". When it was pointed out she did not answer the question and instead read from a queue card titled , Key Words to Emphasize Lyar quickly had a restraining ordered enacted against the reporter.

Turning the press conference over to the spokesman from the new law firm I. Gonasuya said the new law firm will be suing any citizen who opposed the action or who refuse to donate to the Democratic party.

The Associated Press later reported the entire state of Nebraska was under injunctions from Havbin Rypen and Huoff and large tracts of northern Indiana had been sued as well as most of New Jersey. To date the only state without a pending lawsuit was California where the loss of Democracy was hailed as "True Progress"

NOTE: This is not an Onion Article and is meant as parody only

Wisconsin Democrats Lose Their Minds

In an effort to prove they wont be out hypocrited by anyone Wisconsin Democrats have done a 180 and are now endorsing candidates and actions that only a few weeks ago they were condemning.

In Milwaukee Democrats are backing Milwaukee County Executive candidate Chris Abele. Abele is a triple threat, hes a college drop out, is a wealthy business man who is being sued by the IRS for not paying taxes and somehow manged to avoid a court date for 7 and a half years on a DWI charge.
In a massive show of hypocritical action Dems are backing Abele after slamming Scott walker (who formerly held the Exec. position) for dropping out of college and after saying the rich should pay more taxes. Somehow backing a guy who dropped out and didnt pay taxes doesnt even matter nor seem to bother democrats no matter how contrary it runs to their previous statements.
In another bizarre twist after constantly beating up George Bush over going to war and spending trillions they are now backing Barrack Obama's war in Libya. This is the same guy we were told was going to be getting us out of wars not into new ones. This war may be an illegal action by our President but I have actually been told its not a war its a "limited" engagement. I wonder how limited the Libyan's feel those bombs are.Just another display of hypocritical partisanship. By the way how is that whole getting us out of Iraq thing working out.
Then there is Joanne Klopenberg who is running for the Supreme Court against sitting justice David Prosser. You may remember a few years ago (2009) in the Gabeleman race an attack ad by a 3rd party against sitting justice Louis Butler. The ad assisted in Gabelman narrowly defeating Butler the first time a sitting justice had been unseated in Wisconsin in 41 years.
Its not hyperbolic to say Democrats flipped out over the 3rd party ad. We were told in no uncertain terms how unfair it was 3rd party influence was determining judicial races, how partisanship was going to ruin the state etc. Well now the Democrats are running an attack ad against David Prosser claiming he let a pedophile priest off the hook. The ad is a falsehood and the victim in the case stated "If I still lived in Wisconsin I would vote for Justice Prosser and asked tge Klopenberg campaign to have the ad removed. Joanne Klopenberg refused to have it removed but tellingly did not even bother to deny it was promoting a falsehood.
To further advance the hypocritical nature of the party after claiming partisanship deserves no place on the court they run Klopenberg who didnt even bother to deny her activist leanings instead saying I wont let my personal views cloud my judgments. I guess we all know none of us let our personal views influence our decisions, are we supposed to seriously believe that?
Democrats are all over Prosser claiming hes a Walker rubber stamp but after 12 years on the bench the best they could come up with is the fake attack ad. Even the Milwaukee Journal Sentinal a left leaning newspaper endorsed Prosser over Klopenberg.
Its increasingly apparent Democrats dont care at all about the truth they want Klopenberg on the court for one reason only and that is they believe she will rule against Republican policy. She's not qualified to serve as a justice, shes never been a judge in any capacity, no not in any capacity, not even ruling on traffic tickets, shes been turned down for judicial appointments by both Jim Doyle and Barrack Obama but now we are to believe she is somehow worthy of serving on our highest court.

Many Democrats in this state and in particular the leadership feel its no big deal to ignore election results, flee from your duty if you dont like the agenda and sue your way to the policy you want. That is ok get rid of legally elected representatives with recalls just because you dont like a vote. I for one am sick of it. They want to believe November was some kind of aberration and those who voted to elect Republicans are blind morons who have no idea what is going on in this state. Im tired of being told by the left how intelligent and enlightened they are and how simple we are. That if we just followed their lead everything would be better. Democrats had their chance in this state and what do we have to show for it? Massive taxes, raided funds, failing schools, out of control spending and unions telling representatives what to do.

Lets end the hypocrisy vote Jeff Stone and David Prosser. Support our Republican representatives and Governor Walker.

In these hard financial times in the US and with people taking strong sides on the problems with government spending and cutting I think it is a fine time to look at how we give our hard earned tax money to foreign states.

Nuclear Option

It was time. The citizens of Wisconsin have been held hostage long enough. The Democrats had to come home sometime and the bill would have passed anyway. Had they been smart they could have had some concessions instead they chose to stay and hide.

Some of my favorite quotes:

Senate Democratic leader Mark Miller of Monona said Democrats will "join the people of Wisconsin in taking back their government," but he refused to say when. (We just took it back in the last election)

"In thirty minutes, 18 state Senators undid 50 years of civil rights in Wisconsin. (Name one civil right that was undone, just one)

Before the sudden votes, Democratic Sen. Bob Jauch said if Republicans "chose to ram this bill through in this fashion, it will be to their political peril. They're changing the rules. They will inflame a very frustrated public."
(Changing the rules? You Senator have been holding the entire State hostage for 3 weeks.)

Not a Fan of The Seperation of UW-Madison

If you have attended a University, you most likely have figured out that the University revolves around making money. As I watch the UW-Madison try to separate from the UW system, I see a key ingredient on the success of UW-Madison’s smaller sister University’s going away. I know this goes against our collective opinion on government sponsored programs, however, I believe the gains economically we get from our UW system are a worthwhile investment. I argue this base on retention of graduates from local universities from out of state and in state, and higher amount of taxes paid in because of higher average earning potential for college graduates and retaining more graduates within our states.
Retention of college graduates is very important to economic growth. While some communities can rely on local educational and research institutions to provide their human capital resources, other regions must continually import college graduates to fill high-end positions. Fortunately for Wisconsin has fallen in to the latter category. We as a state have been able to provide individuals with aspirations for a degree multiple venues to pursue and attain those goals. Further, most of these Universities have become a national leader in certain areas of studies, (UW-W – Business, UW-EC teaching/ nursing, UW-L – Kinesiology/ teaching, UW Stout, Manufacturing Management, UW-SP, Forestry). As the recruitment of college graduates becomes more competitive with each passing year, regional economic developers often emphasize the importance of educating, attracting and retaining college-educated workers in their communities. What has always been a very important part for “out of state” and “local” students for choosing one of our UW colleges is the affordable education, the flexibility to transfer all their credits to any of the colleges in the system, and the prestige of having “UW” on their degree. Simple fact is 43% of non local students stay in the area they graduate from college, and 70% of local students stay.
In addition to sustaining high-skilled workforces, college graduates bring income to a community. An analysis of the educational attainment of the largest 16 metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs)in the U.S. reveals that education levels influence median wages in a community, and drive wealth creation through the creativity and innovation of college graduates. Almost three-quarters of the variation in wages among these MSAs can be explained by education levels alone. So, a very simple way to put it: The higher the average education in a region, the higher the median wages.
To put is all together, with quality higher education either fact or perceived attracts more students to attend school IN Wisconsin. That would mean more “higher educated” workers in the work force with a higher median wage. That would produce more taxes being paid into the local, state and federal government. This would result in less of burden for all to carry, and lower percent of taxes for all. Of course this is a small piece of the puzzle of our state’s economy, but I feel a very important piece. Sorry Governor Walker, not sold on this part.

Say what you want the people (sheep) to believe.

State Democrats waiting for Union leaders to tell them what to do next!

Remember all the talk of the unions being willing to make the concessions? It was, oh I don't know, all over the place from a few weeks ago to yesterday. I am still seeing that theme from the unions and their small army of protesters in Madison. But is it true?

Of course not. It is all rhetoric, exactly the same as Walker's rhetoric about cooperation. But rhetoric none-the-less.

Don't believe me...read this.

http://gazettextra.com/weblogs/latest-news/2011/mar/03/union-says-no-reopening-contract/

Here in Evansville the school district's board did the same thing. Are we going to lose young teachers because the seniority will not make concessions? And these concessions are needed people, have you seen the budget proposal? Or at least the budget summary? You haven't, oh well you can read that here...

The Governor Who Cut His State Down to Size

Take some time to read this, it may just open your eyes

Just a few points from the article:

Elected governor, he created a new budget office on his first day in office, and moved to decertify the state-employee unions the next day, a step that made it possible to trim the state's work force and reward workers for performance instead of seniority. Unlike the current furor in the more heavily unionized Wisconsin, it caused only limited friction.

What did provoke ire were two moves the governor thought would be more anodyne. He pushed through uniform adoption of Daylight Savings Time, in place of a county-by-county patchwork, and he leased the Indiana Turnpike to a Spanish-Australian consortium for 75 years.

After two years in office, he had an approval rating of just 37%, tied with President Bush. In 2006, his party lost control of the Indiana House.
"It was humbling," Mr. Daniels says. "But I tell you this, we never took a poll to determine what we were for."
His efforts to trim government ended up boosting his image. He sold thousands of state-owned cars and cut the state work force to levels not seen since the 1970s. In a region awash in government red ink, he turned an inherited $600 million deficit into a $370 million surplus the next year. He has rebuilt the state's reserve funds, which now top $800 million.

From the Wall Street Journal

Billions in Bloat Uncovered in Beltway

This is exactly why we need less government in our lives.

15 different agencies overseeing food-safety laws, 20 separate programs to help the homeless and 80 programs for economic development?

How does this happen? This is part of the reason we will have a $1.8 TRILLION deficit this year. Time to cut the fat.

from the Wall Street Journal

OMG The Milwaukee Journal Sells Out....

Today the journal has reported that even after the contributions Public Employees will need to make to their benefit plans they would still have what the journal disgustingly describes as "generous plans"

I urge the journal please do not describe anything relating to the public employees as generous....

My God have they not seen the protesters, have they missed the signs and slogans, what about the TV sound bites and online audio clips.

These people are clearly barely getting by, they live in hovels, walk to work uphill in the snow and are forced to eat small rocks and twigs for lunch. Most of them are forced to donate 90 % of their wage to the students they serve, 5 % to the unions and now the rest just to get a discounted band aid, this will not stand!

I heard one lady say if she lost the CBA she would have to deal with things like her Principal making her do lesson planning during the time her students were in gym or art or at lunch or in another class or study hall , the horror, the horror.....

This is a disaster in the making, Wisconsin will be a 3rd world country piles of dirt and grime supplied by the Koch brothers will invade the skies and fill classrooms with muck. Kids will be forced to learn from teachers who have limited collective bargaining rights, did you hear me a limited CBA!!!!

Terrible terrible situation we are facing, we'll be worse off than Cambodia, and kind of like Indiana

....

I implore the journal to print a retraction, create an immediate relief fund for these destitute individuals, and can you send some pizza to the protesters from Ian's Pizza, you know the one on state, not the other one

Sunday, February 27, 2011

Well Now What?

I have been hearing a lot lately how Scott Walker has overplayed his hand.  Has He?

That is debatable but the reason for the statement was often because protesters showed up en-mass, national media converged, the local internet and social media lit up like I haven't seen in awhile, prank phone calls, out of state  agitators and pseudo local posters showing up all over even "real" local discussion has been more active than I even remember than it being in the 2008 election.

Through it all Walker stood pat.

This has enraged Democrats in general and unions in particular who have been used to getting their way through demonstrations, threats of boycotts and recalls and in our own little world the 14 democrat senators who fled the state with initial statements like "We wont come back until he negotiates"

Well now what? Walker isn't budging, are the Dems going to stay away forever? What are the squatters going to do in Madison when Walker stars issuing pink slips to state employees, what are those employees going to do when the slogans and out of towner's head home and the locals have no jobs?

I hope Walker never moves on this. I dont want people losing their jobs but the reality is we can no longer afford the union benefit packages nor can we afford to let the Public Employees keep the CBA.

If that happens we will be right back in this mess. having them give back a dollar now and take 2 back when the next contract rolls around is unacceptable.

There is a lot of miss direction going  on but not for Walker, he has stayed right on his message. That has kept his followers on message also. They didnt slip into the morass of arguing over things that do not matter or trying to justify a million other things being thrown at them. Refreshing to see a leader who has the stones to stand for his convictions and not fold to special interest.

Walker will ride this out and if he fails on passage it will be because weak kneed Republican legislators folded.

I dont think that will happen. The Gov. for the first time in a long time here is saying, no more trading what you want for what I want on the backs of the public. Get to work and make some real decisions that actually address the elephant in the room we have let hide in plain sight for far to long.

Pass The Bill Scott, many of us are behind you and appreciate the steady hand.

Madison: Ten Square Miles Surrounded By Reality.

Have you ever wondered: Why is Madison so liberally blinded? How can it continue to shrug off the recession in both the housing industry and keeping unemployment relatively low? The answer is very simple; they have been doing it on the backs of the working class of the rest of the state. I will argue this by addressing majority of employers in the city and how they are affected by the recession.
First: Employers. Who are the major players in Madison?? First place goes to… The Government!! It comes in a 79,700 jobs in Madison, (note: does not include teachers, although they are also government workers)!!! Easily more than 2nd and 3rd place. Second place goes to: healthcare and education at 38,000. And finally Third: Insurance companies at 32,000. Here is a list of the top individual employers in the greater Madison area:

Largest employers Number of employees
University of Wisconsin—Madison 25,614
State of Wisconsin 22,186
U.S. Government 3,900
American Family Insurance 3,570
Madison Metropolitan School District 3,462
WPS Insurance 2,789
UW Health Hospitals/Clinics 2,729
CUNA Mutual Group 2,600

Second: How are these jobs affected by the recession? As until the now, not much. The government workers have been spared until now, because we are at a disastrous breaking point. There has not been massive layoffs, pay decreases, or benefits decreases. Healthcare workers and educators, both are a necessity, both are out of control, a whole other discussion for another day. And Insurance companies, huh, funny how the economy tanked and a law was “just so happened to be passed” to have auto insurance mandatory in this state, you can thank the last group of legislators for that, (I wonder how much money they made on that)

The TOP 3 employers in Madison are largely UNEFFECTED by recession, while the rest of the state sufferes. SO if the top employers are not affected, then the other services are going to benefit from that because they will be able to continue to spend. MEANWHILE the rest of the state picks up the tab to 1. pay taxes to run the government, 2. Still have to go to the doctor and school. And 3. NOW we are forced to pay for auto insurance in orfer to keep that industry strong. Sorry Madisonites, your views and beliefs DO NOT reflect the rest of the state’s majority, because we have been carrying you for so long you have forgot we exist. BUT here is your wake up call, Say Hello to a conservative Govenor and a conservative Senate, they are here to tell you how the rest of us feel. Dont ever under estimate the power of your vote.

Abele Crticizes Stone over Budget Repair Bill Vote

http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/news/116946583.html?page=1&rememberMe=y

I have to say I find it hard not to laugh about this one.

The guy who has never held a real job in his life, stands on the side of workers.
Well lets give him the benefit of the doubt maybe he went and talked to his gardener who told him Walkers plan would be bad.

Why Elect Them?

Why do we elect the people we do? Is it because they are the only ones running?

Did you watch the democrats filibuster this week? Screw the legislation I mean seriously we have elected some real morons to run this state. People were sleeping, picking their noses, pushing amendments onto our states capitol floor like, "I would like to see an amendment allowing cows to fornicate in the rotunda with the decapitated heads of Barbie dolls" I'm not even going to make this a partisan issue we have idiots running rampant through our states determining how we live our lives.

We have gone from Nathan Hale "I regret that I have but one life to give for my country to" To Jeff Wood, "can we get some weed and hookers before this next vote" (remember he's the guy the Dem''s got out of jail to vote on a Doyle bill) Hard to imagine why the people of this state have little faith in the electorate.

Its not just Wisconsin either, Marion Barry was caught smoking crack ON CAMERA and in DC the re-elected him mayor. Jebus Keerist, Imagine the campaign slogans, "I will not rest in my efforts to serve the people!!, Seriously I mean it, you cant sleep behind this damn crack, I haven't slept in 3 weeks."

Its gotten so bad in Tennessee the elected a dead guy Mayor, Carl Robin Geary was DEAD when they elected him and I dont mean like he died the day before the election dude was dead for weeks and they still elected him. How f&^%$d up is your campaign if you lose to the dead guy? We now have corpses actually getting into office"Can someone place Carls hand on the bible, its time for the swearing in ceremony"

Now I know what your thinking, Strom Thurmon was dead for 6 years before he was finally replaced, but he was an incumbent so thats different.

I have pretty much decided to just write in anybody and it wont be any different, dont be surprised after the next election and find a write in for "Drooling Homeless Guy Who Smells Like Piss" in the results.

Charles Woodson to Move to Safety?

Time for some Packers News.

From Will Brinson at cbssports.com

Charles Woodson's a pretty darn good cornerback, in case you didn't know. But he's apparently a better teammate, because he recently said that he'd be willing to switch to safety if the Packers could land Nnamdi Asomugha (and it was the best thing for the team). Woodson's already got his title and his Heisman and his NFL DPOY, but apparently none of that matters if he can keep doing what he needs to do in order to help his team win. Pretty awesome, really.

Protesters Set Up Family Space Inside Capitol

While I by no stretch agree with their politics I do appreciate the ability for all Americans to protest. However,  they are turning our Capitol into a shithole. Pitch a tent outside. Just look around during this minute video a family area, food station and a medical station. The Capitols hours are 8:00 to 6:00 weekdays and until 4:00 weekends. It is past time to enforce this. Time to shut it down.

Labor group calls for general strike if budget bill is approved

Particularly, I want to emphasize my conviction that militant tactics have no place in the functions of any organization of Government employees. Upon employees in the Federal service rests the obligation to serve the whole people, whose interests and welfare require orderliness and continuity in the conduct of Government activities. This obligation is paramount. Since their own services have to do with the functioning of the Government, a strike of public employees manifests nothing less than an intent on their part to prevent or obstruct the operations of Government until their demands are satisfied. Such action, looking toward the paralysis of Government by those who have sworn to support it, is unthinkable and intolerable.

While a strong supporter of unions in general, FDR apparently wouldn't have stood for this "sick-out" in Wisconsin.. In fact he wouldn't have supported granting public unions collective bargaining abilities in the first place.

If Wisconsin's governor cuts perquisites as much as he plans to do, "it would still leave (workers) better off than their private sector" counterparts.

From politifact.com

Time to Clean Out the Capitol?

No, I am not talking about our Governor or our Legislators. I am talking about the 1000 or so squatters that have been making a home there since the protests started. Reports have indicated posters taped to the walls, writing on the bathroom walls let alone the sink baths and other messes left by the squatters. The Capitol is open to the public from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm weekdays and 8:00 am to 4:00 pm weekends. This is plenty of time for the protesters to make their point. It is time to send these people home and clean up the mess they have left behind.

Here's a link from the isthmus with a great picture of a dirty hippie.

I Need A Little Help

Would anyone like to explain to why are teachers forced into membership and paying union dues? Why are they not given a choice whether or not they would like to be a member? Where are the rights of those teachers that do not want to pay the dues? And lastly, if money had nothing to do with the protesting, where is the AFL-CIO labor federation getting the $30 million they earmarked to help with the anti-budget repair bill here in Wisconsin?

Wisconsin's 'Phony' Budget Crisis

You cannot argue the facts. If you listen to the unions or Rachel Maddow you may believe there is a budget surplus. There is not! Now is the time for putting an end to spending money we do not have. EVERYONE needs to pitch in. If you have been listening Gov. Walker will take away the CBA so our cities and schools have the tools needed when shared drops about 10%. We here in Evansville have been lucky to have a fiscally conservative city council. NO tax increases in the last 3 years. the same cannot be said for the school district. Hopefully now with these tools in hand they to will be able to tow the line on home owners.

The Stoner Vs. Stone

The Milwaukee County Exec. race is down to the final two candidates. Jeff Stone and Chris Abele.

Jeff Stone is a Republican and Chris Abele is a Democrat.

Truth be told I'm not a fan of either one of these guys, Abele is the son of a Billionaire and head of his families philanthropic organization. Seriously this guy has never held a a real job in his life and now he wants to be County Exec.
Stone is a career politician  who does not have a leadership bone in his body. From what I have seen so far he follows whatever hes been told to do by the party. That could just be my early take since he was pretty mch laying low the whole campaign.
Abele spent something like 700 thousand dollars just to get through the primary. Stone spent I think it was a buck fifty he found in the cup holder of his car and still ran away with the primary.
Stone is in the mold of former Exec. ad current Gov. Scott Walker, fiscally conservative dead sent against taxes. If he shows some backbone in this Liberal city we may actually progress.
I dont know what the hell Abele thinks hes doing, if not for cash this guy wouldnt have had a chance in the race. Then again he was running against Holloway who biggest accomplishment lately was managing to get multiple court dates for his slum housing and having one of his security guards attack one of his tenants. Ieshuh Griffin a paralegal was running with no money, no platform, no ideas and no votes to go along with her candidacy I think she managed a total of 400 votes in the primary. Former Sen. Jim Sullivan ran but he was on fewer peoples radar than Kirstie Alleys career.
So I guess no big surprise Abele advanced especially since with all of the money he was spending he was on TV more often than the Egyptian protests.

If I had to pick one Stone is the easy choice, hes got proven Conservative credentials and not a new idea in his head at least not that I have heard so far. The other side of the coin though is Abele who hasnt done anything his whole life except give away his parents money. I did hear he might know where to score the primo weed so that might sway a few votes.
Be happy though we could have had a slum lord who thought his interm appointment to the County Exec. spot was akin to being named Supreme Ruler of the Universe, complete with a 34 person transition committe for a job he didnt even have and multiple press conferences for a temp job he held for 30 days or Ieshuh Griffin who famously tried to have the synopsis on her ballot read "Not The White-man's Bitch"

Id like to see a viable Indy or Libertarian run here....no really I mean it

Civics Lessons for the kids.

I fully encourage teachers to discuss with students when they return to class all of the issues that surrounded the past weeks protests in Madison.

I would like them to discuss why they think they need a union and who are they being protected from.

I would like them to discuss what would be lost if they did not have the CBA.

I would like them to explain how the state spends on average 12 thousand dollars per student per year  and explain where all of that money is going.

I would like them to explain why the largest public school area in the entire state (Milwaukee) has a 50 % drop out rate and some of the worst standardized testing scores in the entire country.

I would like them to explain why they said teacher evaluations were unnecessary (ironic for people who hand our report cards) and why removal of bad teachers from teaching positions was secondary to senority.

I would like them to explain why they sued to keep Viagra as part of their health plan.

I would like them to explain why they feel they should have better pay and benefits than their private sector counter parts.

I would like them to explain what their advise would be if a student came in and said " I found a doctor doing medical evaluations on the street and handing out diagnosis, do you think I should keep seeing them?

I would like them to explain to these kids why they think the childrens parents should be paying for salary and benefits that the parents cannot even get.

They are taking our rights away!!

How often have you heard the past few days "They are taking our rights away!"

The reality is that is a load of bull$hit. The Collective Bargaining Agreement "CBA" behind that statement is not and never was a right, its a privilege and can and in this case should be taken away. The Unions would have us believe if they lose the CBA there will suddenly be all kinds of workplace injustices that would occur, you know Ogres stomping through cubicles demanding people work harder, random be-headings to keep everyone on their toes, someone taking all of the pens from the inventory closet. What they really mean to say is if you take away the CBA we wont be able to bargain back everything that was taken back and they would actually be forced to live like a normal taxpayer.
If you dont believe me here is a simple question to prove the theory. "Would you be willing to accept an offer that allows you to keep the CBA but wouldn't allow you to bargain for anything that would increase costs to the taxpayer" The answer is a resounding NO! Why ? Because the unions fully expect to bargain back whatever concessions they lose or to replace them with something of equal or greater value. Yeah I know it sounds like a game show, Ill take the ceramic dalmatian and the rest on a gift certificate Pat.
They would also have us believe that if this happens to them it could happen to anyone, apparently oblivious to the fact that most non Public Union workers have lost the very things they are demanding they get to keep, think about that if your reading this you likely dont have that sweet benefit package but they expect you to pay for theirs.  Notice how I pointed out Public Unions, private sector unions like the Harley Workers, Sub Zero Workers, Mercury Marine Workers have all had massive give backs, where were the shut down demonstrations for their union brethren when all of that happened? Even better where were they when all of us non union workers were giving up pensions, paying for increased health care and paying increased taxes? I dont remember anyone storming the capitol for my family. I wouldnt have expected them to either, like any sane individual I recognized the fact my employer was struggling and if I wanted a job it was necessary to do things I didnt like.
While I listen to the union mouthpieces talk about rights I was struck by how vague they were, they are great at shouting slogans  "Stop the assault on teachers" " Dont let a dictator take our rights" "Wisconsin is going back to the dark ages" " I need my Viagra"
That last one is only a half joke, last year MTEA sued to keep Viagra as part of their health care coverage. , yes they sued to keep it!I guess it makes sense now, they need to make sure they could keep screwing the public. Back to where I was though, you dont hear them talk about actual rights, because well most of the stuff they could actually complain about is covered by laws and many of the others they themselves negotiated. For example, Labor Laws now cover things like discrimination, harassment, un lawful termination and the like. Workplace Safety is now covered by OSHA, ask these people what rights they are talking about, you"ll get one of three things, a blank stare a flat out lie or a slogan shouted at you "Walker is Hitler"
They never really talk details though and the fact is if you look back over the CBA's you'll see why, they didnt care about rights as much as they demanded individual perks. These rights became a good slogan when it was needed but never really mattered until they felt threatened. When 50 % of MPS kids were dropping out, African American kids were scoring at the bottom of standardized tests were they willing to work to get rid of bad teachers and improve schools? Hell no they demanded seniority be left in place making sure no matter how worthless a teacher was if he/she was teaching for a long time they got to keep right on doing it, they bargained to keep teacher evaluations and removal so watered down they are useless and havent been used. Hey I know Johnny cant read but man a 2500.00 deductible just wont fly,the education of your kids be dammed the kids future batted aside in favor of making sure I get to keep what I bargained for. Remember a few years ago when teachers didn't get what they wanted they refused to write recommendations for graduating seniors to get into college holding kids education hostage in favor of their needs. These are the people I am supposed to believe are doing it for the kids? ((Now dont get me wrong, I know their are a lot a TON of dedicated, caring, hardworking teachers who are doing it for the kids. It just so happens most of them are in non union Parochial or Choice schools ;)...))
They also never talk about the negative side of the CBA, they never tell us how it slows down just about any implementation of Labor Savings, they dont mention that to get a contract has been averaging 15 months. What happens is if they do know they have to give something back, they delay, argue, refuse to vote on a contract ensuring the existing contract is held in place for over a year and then finally they say well "we gave up our raise this year" never mentioning the fact that the concessions they bargained into the contract often increased the overall labor/benefit costs.
I'm sick of redirection ploys, Im sick of being lied to, Im sick of spending money I dont have. When we talk about the need to limit Labor Costs via eliminating the CBA I dont want to hear about how someone spent this or that, we are talking about this now so lets stay on topic, this is about the CBA not about how Bass Pro Shops getting some wetlands deal. If you didnt like that attack it when it happened dont bring it up now because you dont want to talk about the CBA. Dont lie to me about what is being lost or trying to make anyone believe Wisconsin is suddenly Egypt and we are under a dictators rule (Ahem Eugene Kane) saying Scott Walker called out the National Guard to quell protests and comparing it to the riots of the 60's get a grip and stop trying to froment dissention with lies. The reality was he readied them to cover services that could be impacted by self interested greedy people who cared more about what they got and didnt care if they screwed a million taxpayers/parents/children or others along the way.Hell they dont care if the state goes bankrupt because they got theirs. In a ironic twist they same thing you will hear them claim the evil corporations do.
Time to wake up.This state is too far in debt to keep up what we have been doing, you have to pay into your health and pensions and you have to give up the CBA it has not helped the state and the taxpayers it needs to be gone.
These teachers who were so willing to try and slam a contract through before Walker took office, now say they want to negotiate and hes not fair for not giving them time, a bit of do as I say not as I do. These union hacks who preach about unfairness and family sent pickets outside of the Governors home in Wauwatosa to picket his elderly parents and children a none to subtle hint of we know where you live. These same people who called for more civil politics when Gabby Giffords was shot are posting pictures of our state reps as jack booted Nazis and I even saw one post wishing cancer on all of them. When a Republican lawmaker received threats today people actually said oh they all get threats but Republicans need to tell the press.
These are some of the people telling us its for the kids, its for us ....

Well no thanks I dont need or want you support, each day I learn more about what this is really about and each day I am more and more sure the Governor is right. Stay the course Scott Walker, we believe in you and we support the bill.

Speechless....

Well not quite.

Ill start at the end here and work backwards hoping to keep this brief.

WI  SB11, unless you have been in a hole this is known as the Budget Repair Bill and has been the genesis of major protests throughout the state. teachers have walked off the job, the protests have been in the major media hell Obama even commented.
Thats not whats getting my goat right now though, its these damn teachers and even more than them the Dem. Reps who bailed out and are hiding in other states, are you kidding me? These people are pulling the same thing my 3 yr old does when he shits his pants and dont want us to find out.
They are not helping me come down in favor of them when they walk out on the kids (teachers) and walk out on the electorate (Representatives).
So here's the deal Mr and Mrs. Union worker, I dont hate you, I dont wish ill will on you and I know this is not going to be good for you. With that said we cannot afford to keep paying you what we have been, the state is broke, more than broke we are billions in debt. Like any sensible person buried in debt you look at your biggest expenses and hindrances to making your budget and you cut them.
Labor in WI. is 60 % of the state budget we cannot afford to keep increasing wages and benefits. Now before I hear it, I know you say you will negotiate the pension and health, but see the problem is we would still have collective bargaining, meaning we would still be hamstrung to make any labor cuts and balance the budgets because all of that needs to be done through the unions. We cannot make real progress on the problem if we have a roadblock at every turn.
Think of it like this, you walk into your house and say ok we are broke and we need to make some cuts. Then 27 people stand up and say you cant take this and you cant limit that and we still need those and oh by the way next year we'll need extra. You are standing there going well ok well now not only did I not save anything I somehow managed to spend even more money I dont have.
Thats where we are as a state right now, nobody wants to give up anything and in fact keep seeking more. We cannot afford this , thats where we are, we cannot afford to keep doing what we have been.
I have been hearing a lot of "we take less in salary so we could have good benefits and a pension" Well guess what, your new deal allows you to now negotiate more wages so you can be just as well paid as you seem to think we in the private sector are, you will also have a better benefit package than most of us ever will but thats still not enough.
No your not going to get a lot of sympathy from us, we didnt see you guys storming the capital or employers when our wages were froze (in some cases for years and years) nobody was making commercials for us when health care costs increased for a decade and yet you somehow managed to get better benefits. We didnt get to keep our jobs simply because we had them longer than another guy, we have to produce and  prove our worth everyday and still face the loss of a job because, well thats how the real world works.

Welcome to it, now get back to work.

Union leader calls for Madison schools to close during planned sickout

Quote from Mary Bell President of WEAC:

"Taking away the union’s role in support of teachers will mean teachers no longer have a voice in issues like class sizes, curriculum and other school quality issues. This proposal has a negative impact on every child and on every parent."

This only hurts the kids.

I thought this was about children and their parents. BULLSHIT! Now parents throughout Madison will have to scramble to find a place for their children. Unlike teachers & state workers a lot of parents do not have the vacation time to accommodate this. This is going to prove nothing. Gov. Walker has the votes and the writing is on the wall.

Something to Think About

From a friend of mine. Kind of puts everything into perspective.
Just remember when you are on your soap box...
I am one bad month away from poverty level finances and two months away from closing...
I put my family's life on the line EVERY day for a business I believe in...
Even when nobody else did...
I would trade that now for a 4% pay cut just to know I would have a job in the future complete with... benefits and pension until I choose to retire.

The Cost of Public Sector Benefits

And the numbers are in..... Thoughts?

  •  In 2001 taxpayers contributed $423 million dollars to state employee health insurance premiums, while in 2011 taxpayers contributed more than $1 billion dollars.  In 2011, state employees paid $64 million toward their health insurance, or about 5.6% of the total cost. (ETF Health Care Analysis)
  • From 2001 to 2010 taxpayers spent more than $8 billion dollars on state employee health care coverage—over the same period of time state employees contributed about $398 million. (ETF Health Care Analysis)
  • Public employers contributed almost $1.37 billion to the state’s pension fund in 2009, while employees contributed about $8 million, or about 0.6%. (LFB paper 84 Wisconsin Retirement System, Table 28)
  • From 2000 to 2009 taxpayers spent about $12.6 billion on public employee pensions, during the same period public employees contributed $55.4 million. (LFB paper 84 Wisconsin Retirement System, Table 28)
  • When looking at state operations, state employees account for about 60% of taxpayer cost—77% of state operations for the UW are employees, 70% for corrections, 63% for health services. (State Budget Office Memo 2-9-11)
  • Wisconsin taxpayers currently make nearly a 100% payment for the employee portion of the public sector pension contribution.  Illinois and Indiana taxpayers contribute the entire employee portion as well, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota and Ohio pay 0% of the employee contribution. (State Budget Office Memo 2-9-11)
  • Public employees in Wisconsin are vested in the retirement system immediately, while in Illinois it takes 8 years, 10 years in Indiana, 4 years in Iowa, 10 years in Michigan, 3 years in Minnesota, and 5 years in Ohio.  (State Budget Office Memo 2-9-11)
  • Survey data finds that private employer HMO plans in Wisconsin typically require a co-pay of $18 per office visit, $45 per specialist visit, $75 per emergency room visit, or $175 in-patient treatment.  The average health insurance premium for these plans averaged $108 per month for single coverage and $261 for family. (State Budget Office Memo 2-9-11)
  • Taxpayers spent $733 million of general purpose revenue on fringe benefits for state employees in fiscal year 2010. (State Budget Office Memo 2-9-11)
  • Fringe benefits made up 25.6% of school district expenditures in 2008-09.  (State Budget Office Memo 2-9-11)

It's Got To Start Some Where

National headlines today show that we as a nation are at our highest percent in debt since World War II. So how bad is Wisconsin off? Being ranked the 6th most in debt state in the US, I would say we are in big trouble. Lets break it down by the numbers. We have a bill for over $50 million owed to Minnesota for our tax reciprocity agreement that we need to still pay, we have over $3 BILLION in budget shortfall. If McDonalds was in the red by $3 billion, can you honestly say that they would be paying their employees? No way, they would file bankruptcy and go under. How did the state employees not see this coming? How did they not know that we cannot continue to pay them with money we simply do not have? How do all the services that the government of Wisconsin supply’s to their citizens continue to do so when there is not enough money to pay for it? I would like to challenge anyone to bring me any successful business model for a non-for-profit organization that is still around that operates $3 billion in the red. I can help you out and give you the answer, there are NONE. Times are financially tough, and we have enjoyed a lot of services that cost us little to nothing out of pocket. BUT what it has done is put all of us in such a bad place financially it is going to take drastic measures to avoid a local, state, and national financial meltdown.

I have said this before; the solution starts right here in our community. We can no longer expect our state to give us more money because we are further in debt, that’s the same thinking as: "I know I’ll get pregnant again to get more aid”. That is irresponsible, immature, selfish, and lazy. Funding for programs like 4K work just like that. The “profit” the supporters talk of for programs like that comes from the state giving us more money than we need to support it. That money does not exists, it hasn't for a long time, the state just borrowed from other states to cover the costs. Time for a decade of responsibility, if we want all these great programs the state currently provides, we need to pay cash for them, not IOU’s. There are obvious lines drawn in the sand and you know which side I’m on, who else will join us?

It's the Bullet Train ... to Nowhere

Why does Obama keep ramming high speed rail down our throats? This is NOT Europe.

Read this from foxnews.com

Walker won't back down from plan to remove collective bargaining rights, unions fight back

I don't think he should. Maybe he could have went about it differently. Opened negotiations publicly let the public see if the unions and I quote Marry Bell "(we) understand the situation" . When they fell apart as I believe they would have then public perception would have swayed his way. Either way this is a must to start getting us out of the hole our state government has put is in.

Here's an interesting part of the article on the average cost to each state employee:

To help offset the average 8 percent increase in costs for state employees under his plan, Walker has promised no furloughs or layoffs. He also wants to make it illegal for public employees to be forced to pay union dues, something he said would save some workers hundreds of dollars a year.

So what's the real problem here? An 8% decrease in PRE-TAX income or union brainwashing?

Here it is from gazettextra.com

Mayor Considering Emergency Alder Meeting To Pass Contracts

It's an election year..... Coincidence????? I don't think so.

Here's the story from channel3000.com

Are Our Teachers Doing What Best For Our Kids???

Students at Stoughton High School are planning a “walk out” today. I called the school because my daughter attends there and asked what the school plans on doing about it. The clerk said, “nothing”. I asked if they would be marked absent or tardy, again she answered “No”. After calling the Principle, Vice Principle, and the Superintendent, the answer changed to, “they will marked absent as any other day”. Thank god commonsense prevailed. HOWEVER the immediate response from the clerk is a very good indicator on just how far some people may go for their own personal agenda. Teachers have an incredible amount of influence over our children and should NEVER use it for their own self interest. I can only hope our Evansville teachers do not allow themselves to go down this path. If they do and are caught, I will campaign to have them excused without pay. It is completely UNACCEPTABLE. It is an egregious abuse of power and is not in line with the moral values I want my daughter or any of my younger children to be subject to.

I know these are difficult times for all teachers and state workers, but we must not allow our emotions to influence our decision when it comes to our children. A walk out without consciences is not in the student’s best interest, it is in the teacher best interest; please do not allow these two things to be mixed. If they want to walk out, let them, but the penalty should be the same as any other day, unexcused.

I do want to emphasize that I did speak with the principle of Stoughton High School and he did ensure me that the school will not be promoting this event, and his plan was sound on how the school was going to handle it. However I am still very concerned with the first response I received and ask that we monitor this very closely. Any teacher that is using his or her influence over the student body for their own political interests should have some sort of punitive action.

Evansville Teachers see the benefits of 4K programs

So the real reason they want to do this is to make it easier on the teachers??? What don't they understand about broke? The taxpayers of Evansville cannot afford this.

Evansville School District piloting late-start days

While I understand the premise behind this I think it is a bad idea for multiple reasons.

1. It could be a financial burden for some unless they continue to provide the early morning activities.

2. Kids need more time in school not less. I would like to see an extended school year instead they are taking away time.

3. We already pay for 4.5 staff development days. Use that time.

WEAC head decries Walker plan

You think?

Tell me how this hurts our families and our children. It doesn't! Mary Bell is worried about one thing...... Her six figure salary.

Here's the link from The Gazette

Union Operatives’ Salaries Raise Eyebrows in Capitol Many Who Engage in Class Warfare Rhetoric Earn Six Figure Salaries

Here's some snapshots from the article:

Beil is not the only public sector union leader to be making a six-figure salary, the MacIver News Service discovered.  Even his assistant director at AFSME 24 SEPAC, Jana Weaver, made $138,553.  In fact, all six full time AFSCME  24 SEPAC employees make six-figure salaries.
The AFSCME Wisconsin State Council, which occupies the same building as SEPAC at 8033 Excelsior Drive in Madison, also has a good number of employees with near six-figure salaries.  According to the union’s 2009 LM-2, filed with the U.S. Department of Labor, 16 field representatives make more than $90,000 annually.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the state’s median individual income for 2009 was $39,718, meanwhile the median wage for state employees was $45,599 according to an analysis of data provided by the Department of Administration.
When benefits are included, the Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance reports the average state employee total compensation in 2008 was valued at $71,000; still only around half of what some labor leaders make in salary alone.

We have got to work together people...

Oh do we? The real issue is this:

Union leaders have proclaimed that this is not the time to strip bargaining powers from the workers and furthermore have stated emphatically that in these dire times that management and workers must work together through the collective bargaining process to achieve mutually beneficial contracts that will increase the economy and create jobs.

What a load of crap. If they really felt this way then why didn't the state workers accept the terms from the democratic controlled legislature? Answer the only thing dire to them about these times is that now, like everyone else (SERIOUSLY EVERYONE ELSE) they get put into a position where they can either accept terms of their employment or have no job. The only jobs created by increasing wages and benefits to one set of employees (public) while another set of employees (private sector) loses wages and benefits are blow-jobs because all of us in the private sector will have to give them on street corners to pay our frickin' taxes!

By the by I am middle class. I have seen no pay raise in 3 years as well. I will continue to see no raise because my company must lower prices for their goods and services to keep people coming in the door so they can pay their bills and payroll. I have no retirement unless I want to pay on my own, which is fine but much more expensive than employees with ANY type of retirement plan. Trust that.

I have health care that has increased in premiums by 10% this year, has added co-payments this year, already has a $1500 deductible, and restricted my care network further. Where the fuck is Obamacare now? I will tell you where, working on paying for the 20,000+ employees they have to add to the IRS while the insurance companies are raising their premium rates through the roof with apparently no repercussions whatsoever.

Here is the deal unions and union members, you can either accept these terms or you will lose some of your "brothers and sisters" in your union to lay-offs because we can't afford this anymore.

OK break-time is over back to my cushy private sector job while all the public employees toil in slave-like conditions. What bullshit.

Walker will propose stripping collective bargaining rights from state workers

I will have to disagree with chasinthenews.

The state and local workers will have jobs with decent pay and benefits. The "entitlements" that state workers have enjoyed for so many years are over. It goes like this, here is a job, your benefits are this, take it or leave it just like us in the private sector. I hear the I took less to work for the state than I would have in the private sector for the benefits argument all the time.

BLAH BLAH BLAH.

I have worked at my current job for 12 years and have 6 weeks of vacation. I have been offered jobs numerous times for more money yet chose the vacation as it suits my lifestyle. My choice. Do to the economy I have not had a raise in 3 years I stayed. My Choice. We had our 401k matching taken away. I stayed. My choice.

You have a choice. Take it or leave it.

Are Wisconsin Public Unions Done???

David Blaska seems to think so. I thought there would be some changes but never saw this coming. Both our State and the Unions are to blame for this. The State for giving in to the Unions for all of these years and the Unions for expecting so much year after year.

You can bet there is going to be one hell of a fight over this one Blaska says " The National Guard might be in play."

This will be fun to watch.

The Last Few Days

All I can say is WOW! I had a great weekend with my special lady friend followed by a Packers Superbowl Victory. Took Monday off to recoup. We decided to pull the kids out of school on Tuesday and head up to Lambeau for the  "Return to Titletown" celebration. We hit the Packers Hall of Fame, the Pro Shop, Curlys Pub and braved the cold to celebrate our 4th Superbowl with the Packers and 56,000 fans. What a great time! Something we all will remember for long, long time.

I work in the tech industry so maybe this is only interesting to me but.... We are all out of IP's. Pretty sure it won't happen again the new IP protocol, "IPv6"will allow for 340 "undecillion" (followed by 36 zeroes) enough  IP's for a trillion people to each be assigned trillions of IP numbers.

Judge Strikes Down ObamaCare

I think this is a good thing...... That being said changes need to be made to the way we go about health care. They need to go back to the drawing board, make some common sense reforms at the same time keeping the government out of health care.

Taco Bell – "Thank you for suing us"

What we need is a judge with some backbone to hold the ambulance chasers accountable. A huge fine and  damages in favor of the plaintiff to put these kinds of frivolous lawsuits to rest once and for all. Anybody with half a brain can see what this is about. Publicity and Lawyers fees and nothing else. The lawyers get the money and the taxpayer gets the bill for the abuse of the court system.

Dear Mr Reif (Janesville school district teacher)

Mr Reif, you say Janesville economy is on the “upswing”. Let’s examine the FACTs from the US department of labor, Bureau of labor statistics (here is the link so you can see for yourself (http://data.bls.gov/pdq/SurveyOutputServlet?series_id=LAUMT55275003&data_tool=XGtable) The average annual unemployment rate between 2000-2008 was 5.58% with 2008 being the highest at 6.1%. Since then Janesville has reached as high as 13.2%, the most current month (Nov 2010) is predicted at 9.4%, the year previous to that (Nov 2009) 11.4% (current state avg 7.5%). So YES the economy is on the upswing, HOWEVER Janesville has NOT recovered. NOW is not the time to talk about more spending, NOW is the time to learn from our mistakes, make GOOD decisions with the current budget. I wish we could afford all the best things in life for our children, but the obvious truth is WE CAN NOT. Time to make very tough decisions on NEEDS AND WANTS. Keep the “needs”, reduce/ cut the “wants”. Very basic financial and life skills I have been teaching my daughter for 17 years.

Residents: Raise our taxes

You see this one from the Gazette?

Check out this guy: Jim Reif, a teacher who was on the teacher's side of the bargaining table, challenged that idea. He said teachers agreed to smaller pay increases than the average increase statewide.
"We're doing our part," Reif said.
Reif said if the board had taxed to the maximum allowed by law in recent years, it wouldn't be in the financial straits it finds itself now.
Perhaps taxpayers needed a "breather," Reif said, but now the economy is on the upswing.
"Time to go to the people and say, 'maybe we need a little more from you,'" Reif said.

Wow! He has some balls. Not sure where you are at but I have not personally seen anything form this "upswing" he's talking about. The people have no more to give.

I am nominating him for next weeks Douche bag of the week.

Here's the whole thing from gazettextra.com

Legislature Passes $67 Million Tax Cut Measure

My question is this.... How do they know it will cost $67 Million dollars? I wish they would have put a provision in it with some sort of wage necessary to receive the tax cut say $15.00 an hour minimum. Give Gov. Walker some credit for doing something. I hope it works.
